Edward C. Murphy was born December 7, 1939 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the eldest of five siblings. In 1963 he received an honorable discharge after serving four years in the United States Navy. He met Katherine Young while working at Diamond Crystal in Wilmington, MA. They fell in love and were married June 9, 1963. In the following years Ed and Kathy had five children: Pamela, Edward, John, Susan, and Joseph. Ed and Kathy accepted Christ as their Saviour and joined a church in Woburn, MA with Pastor Frank Tamilio. Later, they found the Bible Speaks church in Wilmington, MA with Pastor John Palmer. In 1987 Edward received his ordination for the pastorate. For over 25 years, Pastor Murphy served God through nursing home ministries in Massachusetts and Maryland. Pastor Murphy was well known for his comical offerings and stories that made many laugh, and to our surprise, resulted in a bigger offering. Pastor Murphy was also an avid Boston sports fan. In 2004, the Red Sox victory in the World Series gave him great joy after 50 years of misery.
